At the footer of every Paul Graham Essay, you see him ackowledging his draft readers.

This seems a) heh! this feels kinda “exclusive” and rarified b) perhaps if I write something that requires me to have “draft readers”, I might work on long form articles that are worthy of more than one person’s time.

I am going to make a list of people that I will send my drafts to, and work on lengthening that list.

It might also help to write your stuff with these draft readers in mind. It helps in two ways:

  1. You have an audience that you can picture “listening” to you.
  2. The above implies they are an “and…” listener, this also gives you a safe space to consider what they might say “I agree, and …” to.
