Started watching Poldark with NP, went wikipedia sleuthing and found the author of the Poldark book series has an autobiography Memoirs of a private man : Graham, Winston . It is a book available for borrowal on the Internet archive. Borrowed it and read a few pages. Looks interesting.

I remember watching almost all the episodes of the five seasons of the 2015 TV series couple of years ago. I might get to finish the whole series this time with NP.

Started using Karabiner Elements to remap the keys on my Das Keyboard S to be more consistent with the Mac keybindings on my MBP.

The left-Alt key closest to the space bar is mapped to the Cmd key, but it is not as comfortable as using the Cmd key on the MBP, especially when saving with Cmd-s etc.

12/23: Suspending the karabiner experiment till I find some time to read the manual.

12/24 - 12/26: Travelled to St Louis to spend Christmas vacation with family.

Programming

I saw mention of Nomad twice today, once via the Running Nomad for home server blog post and earlier via a tweet by Convex.dev co-founder.

  1. (Convex): We use Nomad for cluster management, which we find more ergonomic than Kubernetes.
  2. (Zerodha): We are evaluating it (Nomad) to migrate our services to Nomad from ^c5ee51

If I write this “journal” like an actual journal, by which I mean:

  1. write down my observations, opinions, learnings, ..
  2. make note of things in passing

When end of 2026 comes, I should have no problems in creating my own “2026 wrapup” by running a LLM command on the 2026 .md files and edit it with my own commentary. It will be from my own words, but LLM might make it easier to get started. Of course, I might want to add/delete my own stuff on top of it too.

Alfred Quick Capture Automation

Using alfred, I have automated quick capture of notes into an obsidian “INBOX”. I Press Comand-shift-L and it opens the “INBOX” file, puts the cursor at the bottom of the file, prints the timestamp, and puts the cursor to its right. In addition, I am using the “Paste URL Into Selection” plugin to capture the URL from where I got the idea or reference.

Note: “INBOX” is now 2026
